External Services

The following is a list of the services I host externally. These are not intended for the general public, but rather for the benefit of a group of friends to use.

Internal Services

My home network and Home Lab are very much custom built. A number of different technologies have been compiled together to make everything work. Lets delve deeper into some of it.

  • OpenWRT - Open Source software for custom built routers
  • Proxmox - Virtual Machine and LXC Container host
  • Bind9 - Authoritative DNS Nameserver
  • NginX - Web proxy to Internal services
  • PiHole - Network DNS based Ad filtering and traffic monitoring
  • Debmirror - Local network Linux package mirror

Monitoring

Having servers and a custom networks will often mean issues and downtime will happen for time-to-time. So, you'll need a way to monitor everything. Below is a list of some of the things I use to track whats happening on my network, and to keep track of my inventory too.

  • Uptime Kuma - Uptime status monitoring of systems and services
  • Beszel - Server uptime and performance monitoring
  • Netbox - Inventory tracking and network mapping
  • Ntfy - For notifications from the above services
